About Comdity
Comdity is an online marketplace for bulk commodities. Companies post sell offers and buy requests, send offers and counteroffers, and agree the deal between themselves.
What Comdity is
Comdity brings together companies that trade commodities carried by sea. A sell offer names the product, the quantity, the origin and the loading port, on FOB terms; the seller can say it is open to CFR and CIF offers as well. A buy request names what the buyer needs on CFR and CIF terms, and the buyer can say it is open to FOB offers too. Other companies answer with an offer, and the two sides use counteroffers until they reach an agreement. The catalogue has more than 90 products, from wheat and urea to iron ore and steel billets. See the full list of commodities.
Who it is for
Comdity is for companies: producers, exporters, importers, traders and buyers of bulk commodities. To register you use your own company email address, and free email providers such as Gmail or Hotmail are not accepted. Every listing is confirmed through a link sent to the company email before it goes live, and the origin country is shown on every listing.
What Comdity does not do
Comdity provides technology and marketplace infrastructure only. We are not the buyer or the seller, and we are not a broker, an agent or any other intermediary for either side. We are not a shipowner, a carrier, a freight forwarder or a shipping agent, and we are not a bank, a payment guarantor or an escrow provider. We do not take ownership of goods and we are not a party to a trade between users. A listing or an offer does not mean that Comdity has verified the information or approved the trade, so check the company and the documents yourself, and have a lawyer look at a large contract. Read the guide to FOB, CFR and CIF and the guide to offer and counteroffer for the usual steps.
Who runs Comdity
Comdity is operated by Comdity LLC, 7901 4th St N, Ste 300, Saint Petersburg, FL 33702-4399, USA. After an agreement, the company that arranges the sea freight can follow an optional link to Shipfixing, the sister platform for ship chartering. The legal texts are in the Terms of Service and the Privacy Policy.
